Re: The Little Drummer Girl
Yeah, very good. Quite slow paced at times, but then Le Carre often is (eg Honourable Schoolboy). Not read this one - going to be interesting to see what the director brings to it. Bold choice by the BBC to give this one to the Old Boy and Handmaiden director.

Re: The Little Drummer Girl
Not read the book but this is 6 parts so I guess it can be excused a slow build up.
Saw LeCarre in the summer walking up near Hampstead Heath but didn’t ask him how it ends

Re: The Little Drummer Girl
Something wrong with my TV because speech seemed clear enough and loud enough.

Much better compared to "Jamaica Inn" several years ago.

Not seen it yet but Michael Shannon's hair looks authentic.

Pretty decent cast and director, looking forward to it!

Re: The Little Drummer Girl
Miniseries is the best way of dramatising le Carré stuff. Much, much better so far than the film version

Re: The Little Drummer Girl
Florence Pugh is the best actor on show. No stupid histrionics. Very authentic.

Re: The Little Drummer Girl
Agree that Le Carre needs a miniseries length
Compare Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy as the tv classic to the movie.

Michael Shannon played Richard Kuklinski in The Iceman.
Keep waiting for him to eliminate everyone

Simply put, I want to bum that Florence Pugh.

Re: The Little Drummer Girl
She's better than Diane Keeton in the film version. She is playing a shallow person who is playing at left wing politics until she is picked up by Mossad. She's meant to be annoying at that part of the plot

Oh ...and I would if she asked nicely.

Your opinion, of course Leroy, but she's one of the most exciting talents we have at the moment and at just 22 will have a fantastic career ahead of her.

Re: The Little Drummer Girl
Mumbling in modern drama in general is a nuisance and I'm not convinced it's the fault of incidental music or sound quality.

Watching Line of Duty on Netflix currently and Thandie Newton is fully intelligible at all times because of her impeccable diction. But I've turned on the subtitles because of the general mongy mumbling of other actors.
